Mumbai Carnage

Where is that joker Raj Thackery who claims monopoly on Mumbai? May be he is hiding in the house sipping beer and watching tamasha on T.vA Patil or two quitting is no big deal. The politicians have proved themselves to be worse than terrorists. Quitting posts owning moral responsibility is a drama. They must be made accountable and should answer for their callousness, indifference and total failure. What did the Govt. do when they had the Intel about possibility of terrorists infiltering through the sea coast? What were the steps taken to strengthen the security in the wake of these reports? The C.M. had the audacity to take a film director to the site as though it was a picnic. He was accompanied by his son and Ram Gopal Varma.Perhaps the trio wanted to have first hand feel of post-terrorist-devastation scenario as the son is making his foray into Bollywood. All indicators are pointing towards Pak. I fail to understand why Manmohan Singh was seeking the support of ISI who happens to be the main suspect in this gory carnage. Even a school kid will tell that ISI is hostile to India and our PMs asking it to send their chief so that he can identify the co-conspirators?Sadly there is no crisis management body and nobody knows who is coordinating the whole thing. There is delay in the arrival of NSGs from Delhi since a special flight was not available. If only there were to be a centralized agency, a special flight could have been set up immediately. The fact that American CIA officials who came here to help were held up at Mumbai Airport for a whole day speaks volumes about the sad situation and lack of speed on the part of the Govt. The PMO could have directly intervened and sorted out the matter. What could have been more important than this in this hour? Perhaps the govt. was too busy in political fire-fighting exercise, gunning a Patil or a Vilasrao.First of all, no politician deserves to be given any personal security which has become more of a status symbol. It is so nauseating to see every political jerk lording over, surrounded by gunmen, paid for by our taxes. While entering politics they must accept risk as a professional hazard and die if the need be. A person who cannot freely mingle with the people and constantly fears for his life is no leader at all. We would rather lose 10 good-for-nothing politicians to an upright police constable. It’s good that one terrorist is caught alive. What happens now? After the interrogation the case will be handed over to a court and our judicial system will take years, nay, decades. The lawyers who shamelessly come forward to defend these terrorists deserve to be shot at forthwith. The human rights activists will jump into the fray shouting about the rights of terrorists, Dignity of life, amenities in prison for them and all that crap.Let the govt. tighten the belt and give 100% attention to the security issue and beef up the measures. Even 99% is not good enough. We should have special acts, special courts and special agency and maybe special ministry to combat this menace of terrorism. Let us give up our pseudo secularism and be true to ourselves. We must mobilize international support and rope in other countries; seek their expertise to annihilate terrorism. My heart goes out for those who laid down their lives for others and those innocents who lost their lives.~Vinay

Foot in the mouth

A slip of the tongue or a wrong word in a wrong place can cause havoc. One should be guarded while talking and it is more so with people in prominent positions .some times it can cost them their career as it happened with ex-deputy CM of Maharastra,R.R Patil.Following the26/11 terrorist attack on Mumbai which shook the entire nation he said “Small things like these keep happening in big cities like Mumbai”. The man is shown the door amidst public outcry. After all what he said is not totally untrue. But, the timing and context have made it sound outrageous and intolerable. He made this comment when the nation was reeling under shock and paid the price.
The Kerala C.M,V.S.Achutanandan who had gone to condole the death of slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.the C.M was shooed away by the commandos father. Afterwards the C.M reacted by saying that even a dog would not go to their house if it had n’t been for (Major)Sandeep. Is such an outburst warranted from such a senior person? No doubt, he was insulted, but after all, he was an uninvited guest. He rather imposed himself upon the grieving family. The security drill and the hangama preceding C.M’s visit will put off anybody, not to speak about parents who just lost their son in most tragic circumstancesRecently I attended a session on NVC(non-violent communication) at Jiddu Krishna Murty retreat conducted by an American couple. It was an interesting and revealing session.it deals in empathizing with others. as well as one’s own self. surprisingly the expressions we use in our day to day dealings viz-don’t worry, it happened to me once, cheer up,I tell you what, do not constitute empathy. It involves identifying other people’s FEELINGS and their NEEDS. and responding accordingly. in the instant scenario, the feelings are of ,agony, helplessness, anguish and vulnerability. The need is that of support and solidarity. if the old man from Kerala were to ponder for a second to realize the trauma the family was undergoing he would n’t have reacted the way he did.it will do them a world of good to attend a course mentioned aboveto prevent shooting from hip

Festival of Balamurali

It was a cocktail of magnificence and melody at it’s best. This is about the festival of Balamurali, organized on the eve of A.P formation day-1st November at Chowmahalla palace, just a stone’s throw from the historic Charminar. The palace was beautifully illuminated and the music festival was conducted on the sprawling lawns.
The grandeur of the palace and splendor of dance and music excelled each other and one is soaked in stream of celestial joy. It was a pure bliss to watch Indian classical music jugalbandhi by the legend-DrBalamuralikrishna and his distinguished disciple Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty.whether the recital was Hansadhwani or Kalyani-it was sheer melody all the way. even a lay man like me got thoroughly immersed and enjoyed each moment with glee and gratitude. I do not know the nuances of ragas but my eyes were filled with tears of sublime joy .The audience was glued to their seats nodding their heads vigorously and moving their hands in tune with the tune, unmindful of everything else.
The total setting transported you to another era of Royalty and Music-the kind of music that doesn’t scintillate your senses but soothes your soul.
The exquisite musical performance was preceded by a brilliant Indian classical dance jugalbandhi by Yamini Muthanna(Bharata Natyam),Sharmila Mukherji(Odissi),Priya Jaya Raman(Kuchipudi)and Chetana(Kathak). The fusion and cohesion were perfect and it provided an excellent Take Off for the musical extravaganza that followed.
Indeed ,it was an enchanting evening, a great feast to the esthetic senses of Hyderabad people who rarely get a chance to witness events like this, unlike their counterparts in Chennai.

The political air in the state is abuzz with pre-poll alliances. The talks are on amongst various political parties who indeed make strange bed fellows. The TDP is trying to hitch up with TRS. The TRS is making efforts to forge a pact with CPI, conveniently ignoring the latter’s stand on formation of smaller states. What is disheartening is, there is no positive attitude on the part of any of these political parties. The main focus of any party should revolve around – upliftment of poor, development of the state, health, education, employment, price control etc. But, sadly the single point agenda of all these parties is to defeat congress. In the meanwhile a call is given to all the parties to unite to defeat congress. This reveals the strength of congress vis-à-vis the weaknesses of other parties, as no one including TDP is willing to take congress head on. Simply blind hatred against congress can not ensure victory in the elections.

Mr.Naidu is evidently desperate and trying every trick in the trade to keep his flock together and also to remain afloat and relevant. All his utterances and actions smack of
Utter despondency. Suddenly he seems to have discovered the pride of so called Nandamuri clan. In any case he is not the inheritor of NTR legacy since NTR disowned him and he in turn kept the kin of NTR at bay as long as he was at the helm of affairs of the state. In a state of panic he had roped in Balakrishna, Jr NTR, Kalyan ram and Tarak Ratna. Out of this lot only Jr NTR is popular. Balakrishna is past his prime while the other two are greenhorns with hardly any hits to their credit. Naidu being a shrewd politician is aware of this, but he can not pick up only NTR as it will upset the family cart.
It is a package deal: if you want NTR take him with other two or sorry. If Naidu is so keen on reviving NTR spirit, let him hand over the gaddi to Hari Krishna who had proved himself to be a loyal driver in the past.
KCR had hobnobbed with BJP. Now , he is making overtures to CPI. He had not learnt any lessons from his recent experience where the electorate made him eat dust.
BJP is sure of not getting even a single seat, thanks to the wrong strategies pursued by them. In Andhra they can not hope for any seats because of their stand on Telangana,
In Telangana they will draw a blank because of the presence of more active players in the fray. The party is suffering from bankruptcy of effective leadership at the top in the state
THE Communists have got used to back seat driving . they can not win anything on their own. So invariably they tie up with others only to ditch them later with out any qualms.
Now a campaign is on to see that Chiranjivi’s PRP also joins the bandwagon of “bury congress”. It will be suicidal for the new-born to align or go anywhere near TDP,
Since TDP is a regional party and Naidu wants to be C.M at any cost and he will not share it with anybody. However, it is not the story with congress. In a worst case scenario, they may forego the state to retain power at centre by letting in Chiranjivi, though it is a far fetched prospect as of now. The PRP had acquired a good image by not indulging in any mudslinging.
All in all the ensuing elections are likely to bring new “stars” on to the political horizon while it could be end of road for old horses.

Waah..Waah AP Assembly

Yesterday I watched the assembly proceedings and by the time the house got adjourned I was sick with disgust. It was a spectacle of worst order. The members were trying to outsmart one
another. The lone voice of sanity was that of the MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, who spoke with full responsibility and authority. The speech was laced with emotion, passion and reason. He said as a young man he was frustrated with the gaudy and obtrusive behavior of the members, resulting in unruly scenes and wastage of precious time.He said that each minute of the assembly time costs the ex checker Rs.10,000.He was not sanctimonious, as he did not exclude himself from the burden of responsibility .As a member of the house he owned full responsibility for the state of affairs

Few in the assembly can match his eloquence, fluency, style, skill, force and subject.Keep it up young man.We need people like you in politics.

Hello Everybody!

I am told that blogs are only for celebs.I am a nobody from Hyderabad, but I am alive to our surroundings, current events and happenings.I want to share my views,my joy,my distress and I welcome your feedback.
The city heaved a collective sigh of relief as the ganesh immersion festivities passed on peacefully without any untoward incidents. The mood was gloomy following the ghastly blastings at delhi on the previous day.It appears that Hyderabadis observed self-restraint and many people remained indoors and for most part of the day,the roads remained deserted though the momentum picked up by evening.Driving to the khairtabad statue along with my son teja in the morning i felt like a VIP as the roads were absolutely free without any traffic. After a grand darshan we stopped near the rajdoot junction to eat corn and drink narial pani, which would have been impossible on any other day-what with ceaseless traffic.Congrats to police force for ensuring a smooth run.
Kudos to saina Nehwal for her marvellous performance in the Taipel badminton tournament.Looks like saina is the new chocolate girl of Indian sports(move over sania).Let us allow her to play and enjoy the game and let's not commit the mistake of creating hype- like we did for sania, killing her victory streak prematurely. The constant media glare escalates the tension and diverts the focus of the player which can adversely impact the performance.Hyderabad is proud of saina and lets hope for many more hits from her.

Chiru darbar is getting stale by the day.It is becoming difficult for his folks to sutain the tempo created in the beginining. He sadly lacks the fire and passion of NTR.Every word and deed of NTR used to reflect his thrist for social change. The rupee-2 kilo rice scheme was his brainchild ,so was the prohibition on liquor. If chiru wants to succeed its time he comes out with agenda of his own instead of skirting the issue
Bye for now.
